 South China University of Technology cooperated with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. to carry out the robot innovation platform construction project based on artificial intelligence technology from May 1, 2020 to July 15, 2021, with Mr. Bi Sheng as the project leader.
 
This project builds a complete set of innovation platform based on Huawei HiLens platform artificial intelligence technology combined with robotics technology, so that students can experience the development process of intelligent system, and improve their understanding of artificial intelligence technology, software system, algorithm design, hardware system design and the complete realization process of intelligent system works.
 
With the joint efforts of the university and the enterprise, the following main achievements have been achieved:
 
1. Developed a set of autonomous driving platform based on Huawei HiLens, which can be used as a development platform for students to learn artificial intelligence technology. Huawei Hilens development platform is used to realize the vision-based robot intelligent navigation function and automatic driving. The platform supports submission of project design documents, outcome demo, training and reasoning data sets, and deployment of code. HiLens Kit integrates Atlas200AI acceleration module. It is a multimedia terminal device with AI reasoning ability. With HD camera access, it is convenient for users to access quickly and easily, and use the powerful processing power of Ascend 310 AI processor. The object detection algorithm is deployed on HiLens Kit. After HiLens Kit is configured, the model can be uploaded to the cloud platform and skills can be deployed. In this process, students systematically learn various artificial intelligence algorithms and use them in robot development practice. based on this platform, students can participate in college students' innovation competition, so as to cultivate their innovation ability.
 
 
 
2. Combined with the project to create "intelligent system" the future of south China university of technology innovation laboratory and the field demonstration teaching and research section of "intelligent system and application of virtual teaching and research section," intelligent technology professional knowledge learning places for the students to give students more chances experiment was carried out on the intelligent technique is applied to various industries practice and innovation, Cultivate more students' innovative thinking and innovative ability to use intelligent technology.
 
3. Guide students to realize various related innovative designs through this innovation platform. In guiding students' innovation activities, (1) guided students to participate in the 2020 second Huawei Cloud Artificial Intelligence Competition (Unmanned Car Challenge Cup) and won the third place. (2) Guided students to win the fourth place and the second prize in the 2021 National College Student Computer System Ability Competition (Huawei Bisheng Cup), and Mr. Bi Sheng was awarded the Excellent tutor. (3) Guided students to participate in the 7th China International "Internet +" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in 2021, and won the "Gold Award" in the university based on Huawei Centime full-stack AI hardware and software platform technology. (4) Guide students to be approved for the 2020 National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project for College students "Research and Implementation of End-to-end Robot Navigation Method". In the process of guiding students' development, I developed the end-to-end autonomous navigation method based on the platform constructed in this project, and guided students to engage in relevant innovative research in combination with this method. The student-directed paper "A Robot Obstacle Avoidance Approach with Perceptual and Cognitive Data Combined" has been published in IEEE Cyber 2021 Conference, It has applied for the invention patent "Obstacle Avoidance Method of Mobile Robot based on meta-learning", authorized the utility model patent "A robot autonomous navigation obstacle avoidance device", and authorized the software management of robot platform "Internet-based robot management software System".
 
 
 
4. The project team got familiar with the whole set of Huawei platform development through this project, and established a closer relationship with Huawei. Mr. Bi Sheng was awarded the 2020 Huawei Cloud MVP& Cloud Sharing Expert.
 
 
 
The results of this project have been promoted and applied. By establishing the future innovation laboratory of "Intelligent System" of South China University of Technology and the first university-level demonstration teaching and research office "Intelligent System and Application Virtual Teaching and Research Office", it is open to undergraduates and postgraduates, providing a place for learning, practice, exploration and innovation, and benefiting 600 students. Sustainably supports 40 innovative, entrepreneurial students who have a special interest in learning and researching the application of smart technologies to related industries. Through the construction of "Intelligent System and Application Virtual Teaching and Research Office", we strive to become a landmark intelligent system application innovation education demonstration base in Guangdong and even the whole country. In the initial process of building the virtual teaching and Research office, teachers from our school are the main ones, and then teachers from other schools are added in the process of external promotion.
